I get asked about every month for advice on writing comics, breaking into comics or finding an artist. Sometimes I have a short witty reply. Sometimes I enthuse, arms flailing, eyes glistening with a prophetic glint until the unfortunate soul escapes. Sometimes I groan and hit my head against a table. Lucky people are e-mailed web resources. Here are a few and there's plenty more info out there. Dive in have a look around and start talking to people.

Places to send your work

  • Caleb Monroe provides a fantastic listing of publishers. http://calebmonroe.com/creator-services/
  • Go to publisher web pages and check out their submission details. In addition to finding out about specific requirements and opportunities some, like 2000AD and Dark Horse, will provide info on story structure, scripts and how to write a good cover letter.

Good luck, keep researching, keep writing, keep editing, keep talking, keep banging on doors and make wonderful stories.

Liz will be running a workshop on how to write comics at Conflux 2007 www.conflux.org.au
